World View to Launch from Spaceport Tucson, Arizona

January 19, 2016

World View Enterprises has announced its plans to launch its stratospheric balloon system from Spaceport Tucson, Arizona. The balloon system will carry passengers and payloads to the edge of space for various applications, including tourism, scientific research, and commercial uses such as high-altitude imaging and remote sensing. The launch site will provide a dedicated facility for the assembly, testing, and launch of World View's stratospheric balloons. The facility will also include a mission control center and a visitor center for public viewing of launches. The site will create jobs in the region and attract space-related businesses to the area. World View has already successfully completed 25 test flights, including a record-breaking dive from the stratosphere in 2014. The company aims to offer affordable and accessible access to the edge of space and aims to launch its first crewed flights by the end of 2023. The balloon system uses a helium-filled balloon to lift a pressurized capsule containing passengers to an altitude of 30 km. The capsule provides ample space for passengers to move around and experience the journey. The balloon system offers a more cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional rocket launches, making it possible to conduct research and exploration at higher altitudes without the need for costly infrastructure.
